ASPIRE Lean Academy

Following the enthusiastic reception by participants of the June workshops, covering Visual Management Systems, Practical Problem Solving/Standardizing Work and, 8 Wastes of Lean Processes, the Academy has added two additional events to its Autumn/Winter programme.

These latest workshops offer an intensive 2 days of theoretical study and practical exercises in Lean Project Management and Process Mapping, directly related to SSC and BPO business processes. (see schedule for more details). Both workshops are lead by Michał Kopczewski, author of “Alfabet zarządzania Projektami” (ABC of Project Management). Michał is Managing Director of Processum-a specialist consulting business in Lean Project Management, Processes Mapping and Process Auditing.

Under a newly formed partnership between the Academy organizer, Human Resources Management (HRM) and PWC consultants, Mark Forkun will continue to lead the 8 workshops in the current series, covering a broad range of lean process tools and techniques, including a repeat of several of the successful earlier workshops.

My general feedback after attending two workshops is very positive. I think that both myself and my colleagues have increased the knowledge on Lean management and useful tools we can use in day to day business environment. All workshops included practical exercises which helped us to understand the theory and practice. I think this training was very valuable especially in time of upcoming service/delivery changes of our Krakow centre one day in the future.

During the Lean Academy workshops, I definitely spent quality time. Overall, I think the three courses, I participated in were stimulating and useful from a real life point of view.

The course instructors have a great knowledge on the Lean approach, were very supportive and willing to answer any of our questions. In regards to my feedback and remarks after the workshops, I can say is that those workshops are definitely and extremely beneficial for people who understand the need of changes and are willing to make those within their organizations in order to be competitive and focused on delivering excellent customer service in any area – both internally and externally. To me personally, having the opportunity to participate in Lean management workshops I’ve learned that Lean is not only about cost.

In regards to my PDP we have started on Lean workshops, I’ve identified for myself various areas for improvement or wastes within my department ( like people’s working time effectiveness or duplicate processes, as an examples) that can be eliminated and would like to see effects of that improvements by end of this year.

Regarding the workshops and Lean Academy, I like the idea of Lean Leadership, which compiles soft skills and the Lean techniques – it lets me understood that we are responsible as supervisors for continuous improvement. We should not only count on the special team created for the seeking of process enhancements, but we should start from ourselves as first line supervisors – people that are aware how the processes work and are close enough with jobholders to know how to encourage and motivate them.
